Governor of Kasaï Oriental Province Visits National Road No. 2 Project Undertaken by CJIC

On September 3, the Governor of Kasaï Oriental Province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Jean-Paul Mbwebwe, visited the construction site of Lot 1 of the National Road No. 2 project, undertaken by CJIC, for an on-site inspection to review the project’s progress.
During the visit, Governor Mbwebwe received detailed briefings on the overall project progress, dry-season construction arrangements, handling of major challenges, employment of local labor, and safety and quality management. He fully acknowledged the current achievements of the project and commended the project team for its vigorous efforts in advancing the works. He pointed out that National Road No. 2 is of great significance to Kasaï Oriental and the areas along the route, and expressed his hope that CJIC and other participating contractors would maintain an efficient construction pace, strictly control project quality, push forward the works to high standards, continuously improve regional traffic conditions, and empower local economic and social development.
National Road No. 2 is the main east‑west transport artery of the country, serving as a vital link between the inland city of Mbuji-Mayi and the Rwandan border. During construction, the project team has ensured the road remains open and trafficable while systematically carrying out upgrades to the old pavement and asphalt resurfacing. The project has also actively fulfilled its social responsibilities by employing a large number of local workers, providing regular hands‑on skills training, helping to boost local incomes, and effectively promoting people‑to‑people bonds.
