WORLD BANK AND DRC INFRASTRUCTURE MINISTRY CONDUCT JOINT INSPECTION OF JIANGXI INTERNATIONAL'S NATIONAL ROAD NO. 2 PROJECT

From 3 to 5 August, a joint delegation from the World Bank and the Democratic Republic of the Congo's Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Works inspected the National Road No. 2 project being delivered by Jiangxi International. The delegation included Peter Taniform, the World Bank's representative in the DRC, and Billy TSHIBAMBE NYEMBU, a representative of the DRC Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Works.
The delegation visited active work fronts to review construction quality, occupational safety, environmental safeguards and overall progress. It also received a detailed briefing from the project team on construction planning, resource deployment and the next phase of work.
The delegation commended the progress achieved to date, noting that construction was well organised, resources were appropriately deployed and overall progress remained aligned with the project schedule. It particularly praised the quality of the cement-stabilised base course and asphalt pavement works. The delegation also welcomed the project team's initiative to deploy equipment to repair access roads, helping to ease travel and the movement of goods for local communities.
The delegation encouraged the project team to make full use of favourable construction conditions, further refine work planning and strengthen resource support. It stressed that faster progress should be pursued while maintaining strict standards for quality, workplace safety and environmental protection, so as to secure delivery of the annual construction targets.
The project team will capitalise on the dry-season construction window by operating two shifts, sequencing activities against a detailed timetable and managing each milestone closely. A weekly coordination mechanism will be used to adjust construction plans dynamically and optimise resource allocation. While maintaining firm quality, safety and environmental safeguards, the team will intensify its efforts to complete the annual construction programme on schedule and to a high standard.
